Seriously just heard someone I know refer to Obama’s opinions on same-sex marriage as being extremist. Your grandchildren will be ashamed of you.
Last week, I accompanied my lovely friend, Susannah, to visit the School of Missions Mobilization in Matachi, Mexico. She is a much better blogger than I am and actually posted regularly during the trip. You can check out her blog, or you can get a past tense recap right here. We hiked, explored, swam, taught, learned, worked, rested, cooked, feasted, knitted, talked, and laughed. (That sentence is supposed to be humorous since, while in Mexico, I taught English class focusing on past tense verbs.) Aside from teaching, we also viewed many potential properties in Chihuahua to move the school to, and we met with pastors to talk about partnership opportunities.

Pictured above are: Susie and I, The Stouders (the directors of the school and their children), Aleesa (a teacher at the school), and Maykon, Gustavo, and Heber (students at the school.
They are such a great group. We just laughed and laughed and laughed all day everyday. The whole time I was there, I just kept thinking, “These people are great. This place is beautiful. And there is no greater cause to be had. Who wouldn’t want to do this?” If that’s not enough reason for you, maybe the food will get your attention! Susie and I cooked a lot. I was personally most proud the the homemade muffins. Here is a picture of the most popular meal. Chicken curry and focaccia.

Aside from eating and teaching and working, we also took a day of rest. Actually, “a day of strenuous exercise” would probably be more appropriate. Everyone in our group hiked down a mountain to explore some very old pueblos that were carved into the side of the cliff. The climbing was a little rough, but no one was seriously injured and the view was worth it. Indescribable, really. And the little houses are totally something that would normally be fenced off and removed from the public, but since they’re really in the middle of no where, we just went right inside of the caves and explored every room. Afterwards, we swam in the hot springs.
